In remote mountain highlands of Asia, a group of Buddhist monks, called the Luohan, achieved enlightenment and ascension through meditation and pure living. In this primeval forest, the monks discovered a rare superfood prized for its sweetness and its ability to raise chi, or life energy. Named monk fruit, this sacred fruit has been used for centuries to increase chi and well-being, earning it the nickname “the immortals’ fruit.”
Monk fruit is a small round fruit in the gourd family, also known as Luo Han Guo, named after the Luohan monks who discovered it. The monks were healers of people and stewards of the land. Lakanto carries on that tradition today by healing people from their sugar addictions and growing and processing monk fruit in a way that is sustainable via a zero-emissions processing plant.
We harvest monk fruit for Lakanto in the same pristine area using traditional and environmental methods. Lakanto’s mission is to bring chi to life by inspiring people to reach their highest potential in health and wellness with products that are innovative, delicious, natural, nutritious, sugar-free and healthy.
